The advisory, which had been in effect since July 20, was extended through July 25. Earlier that week, SPP warned that several power plants had unexpectedly tripped offline during the heatwave, leaving reserve margins thin and prompting the operator to issue a Level 3 energy emergency alert in its western territory.
